Waiting for Godot

Waiting for Godot is a seminal work of 20th-century absurdist theater that explores existential themes and the human condition through minimalist dialogue and action. The play is set in a desolate, undefined landscape with a single tree as the primary visual feature.

The story revolves around two characters, Vladimir (Didi) and Estragon (Gogo), who spend their days waiting for someone named Godot, who never arrives. Their waiting is marked by repetitive, often nonsensical conversations, moments of despair, humor, and contemplation about life, time, and the meaning of existence.

the play consists of two acts, both following seemingly identical structure, Didi and Gogo are on stage waiting for godot an attempting to pass the time, at some point  two more characters Pozzo and Lucky come on stage and provided a new dynamic in comparison to gogo and didi. after this a character called boy enters and informs gogo and didi that godot cannot come but will come tomorrow even if he never will.

The Characters

GoGo -  appears to have some form of short term memory loss, always asking questions such as what are we waiting for? who? in act 1 he appears as a more sad and questioning character whereas in act 2 he becomes more happy and content

DiDi - Smarter of the pair (gogo and didi) more powerful, in act 1 is more happy and content in waiting for godot however as the play progresses he becomes more sad and questioning as he begins questioning whether godot will arrive.

Pozzo and Lucky - master servant relationship. highlighting capitalist society and how the lower class citizens are treated by the upper class, both times they appear pozzo creates rather pointless conversation again highlighting the absurdity of the play

Boy - main theme provided is the idea of existentialism always leaves didi asking the same questions and creating the sense of repetitiveness.
